Ingredients:

  • 1 package (3 oz) instant ramen noodles (discard the seasoning packet)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped green onion (white part)
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon brown sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onion (for garnish)

 

Instructions:

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the ramen noodles and cook until tender (al dente). Discard the seasoning packet that comes with the noodles.
  2. Reserve ¼ cup of the noodle cooking water for later. Then, drain the noodles.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and brown sugar. Set aside.
  4. Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped green onion (white part) and garlic, sautéing for about a minute.
  5. Stir in the chili flakes and cook for an additional 30 seconds to blend the flavors.
  6. Add the soy sauce mixture and reserved noodle water to the pan. Stir to combine.
  7. Toss in the cooked noodles and mix gently until well-coated.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onion (the green part) and serve hot.
